Hi Robert, Thought you might find these two web sites interesting... They have a great deal of information on the STINCHCOMB name although I haven't been able to link my STINCHCOMB's in with these, yet !! http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/1402/stinchcomb.htm http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~stinchco/ I have also been in touch with Ellen Hurdel, the owner of the first web site, who has a list of about 7 other STINCHCOMB researchers that may be of some help. You can find her email address on her web page. I would be extremely interested in anything you might have that links in with my STINCHCOMB line. If there is anything you would like from me, please let me know and I will gladly forward you more information. Regards, Adrian Sheppard mailto:ade@sheppardfamily.net http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~adesheppard
I don't think so? The Joseph I have was baptised on 4 Jun 1820 at the same time as George and Eliza. There is a gap between the baptism of Elizabeth in 1810 and Ann, Sarah, George, Joseph & Eliza who were all baptised in 1820. My thinking is that Ann, Sarah, George, Joseph and Eliza were probably born between 1810 and 1820. Hi Adrian Re your STINCHCOMB,s I am at present indexing all STINCHCOMB's for the greater Hawkesbury parish as they are so inter married not only with other families but with other STINCHCOMB's the Hawkesbury family seem to have come from Cromhall or Tortworth around 1600 one was born in Maryland in 1600's returned to Hawkesbury to marry later dies in Baltimore.I plan to do a complete family tree as they all seem to be connected this should show most obvious errors I will also try and link these families to their property so far I know the family at Kingswood is from Hawkesbury it would also seem that the Acton Turville family are also from Hawkesbury. Your James marriage to Sarah, there was a James STINCHCOMB married at Wotton under edge 17 March 1777 but I don't know who he married as yet. regards Robert Millard

Following up the recent messages about THOMPSONS in Bath, I found the following in the Bathwick Registers while looking for a marriage between Joseph COOPER and Mary THOMPSON. We now have 50 members on our list. Something for us to celebrate next time we are in the Beaufort. All you ILES researchers better get ready to welcome Derek ILES who I am sure will introduce himself and his researches very shortly. Angelina ILES married Edmund THOMPSON and they had lots of little ones. Welcome to all the new members. Post your interests and something of yourselves as well. We are just a big happy family here. Which reminds me. A THOMPSON rellie is visiting from Aus at the beginning of October so I shall be planning a get together of sorts then. Mrs Pond Dipper celebrates ehr birthday on the 4th so it will fit in well with that. I will let you all knowthe date as soon as possible. I hope to organise some sort of family history event around the time as well. Geoffro The Pond Dipper

Hi Geoffro I wonder if any of your Hawkesbury listers know anything of John Wyatt CATER and family - wife Elizabeth, son Henry. He was born in Stapleton, but they were living in Hawkesbury Upton in 1851 and John was the Police Constable. By 1881 Elizabeth had died, John had remarried and was Chief Constable in Walsall - quite a promotion!! Due to limited time I'm not keen to subscribe to your list at this time, but I'd be interested to know if there are any further sightings of them. best wishes, Marion in Wiltshire, UK http://www.geocities.com/heartland/prairie/4826 Researching C A T E R anywhere http://www.onelist.com/community/CaterUK B I N D I N G Somerset B E A V E R Bristol C A R N E Y Bristol B U R R E L L Tottenham, London
Isaac THOMPSON said he came from Bath on the passenger list but migrants often stated the place they had last lived in or from where they embarked. One of his daughters, Lucilla Sophia came to Australia in 1848 and although she stated she had been born in Hawkesbury in Oxfordshire(?) she had married in Wiltshire a James EMORY from Malmesbury, a baker. On my map Malmesbury looks a lot closer to Hawkesbury than Bath and I wonder if Lucilla met her her bakerboy through one of these THOMPSON bakers that the Pond Dipper mentioned. And did THOMPSONs stray out to Malmsbury as well as Bath? Incidentally the Shire boundaries are not terribly well marked on that map. In the 1800's was Bath in Wiltshire or Somerset? Incidentally if anyone else is looking for Isaac THOMPSON and his children, 3 of his daughters migrated to Australia and all ended up in the Melbourne area eventually. My apologies. I should have made it clear that the census indicates that Charles was born in 1853 at Thornbury. I have also amended the subject line so that THOMPSON is spealt correctly. Off for a swim now Geoffro The Pond Dipper

There is a THOMPSON family living in Hillsley in 1841 (census) with Charles as a family name. Father is Charles and a son also. The son's age is given as 15 so he was born ca 1825. He could be your Charles if he married a woman about 15 years his junior. Doug Thompson
