    3. Hi Caroline Timithy Shearman BROOKS was born at Hawkesbury bap, 2 Feb 1806 at St Mary's he seems to be a base born child to Sarah BROOKS who was born in Hillesley to William and Mary and as with all other children of theirs she was baptised in the Hillesley Street Baptist Chapel on 31 Mar 1789. I would guess his father was John SHEARMAN/SHEARMUR who lived close by and was the only male with that name of a suitable age. It seems he is not in the area in 1851 I can find no record of his burial so I assume he has moved away, do you have any more details. It seems a little odd Sarah and her family were baptist's but her son is christened in the C of E ? regards Robert visit my web pages at www.btinternet.com/~ra.millard ----- Original Message ----- From: "caroline hurd" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, October 17, 2003 11:48 AM Subject: [HWK] BROOKS Christening. > Hi, > I hope someone can help me. > Is it at all possible to get a Christening checked out? 3. Today I found that my 6 x Gt Grandfather Thomas WRIGHT / RIGHT was married to Grissel ??????. This was found in the Bishops Transcripts of Westerleigh, this showed the baptism of my 5 x Gt Grandfather Robert WRIGHT as the son of Thomas RIGHT and his wife Grissel ?? this was dated 11March 1695, at Westerleigh. If some kind soul has any info on the marriage of Thomas and Grissel, I would greatly appreciate it. I checked the Westerleigh BT's and that of Tormarton PR's for the marriage with no success, also Dyrham & Hinton PR's. Any suggestions would be very kindly accepted. 3. I have read the recent exchange of e-mails on the WINBOW family including 2 John WINBOWS and 2 William WINBOWS and would be interested to know if anyone has any information on a 3rd William WINBOW. He married Mary CLEAVLEY (?) at St Marys, Hawkesbury on 27 June 1791. They had at least 7 children, namely Bap. Sarah April 1792 Mary 8 6 1794 Mary 22 5 1796 Ann 12 8 1798 Hannah Mariah 19 4 1801 Martha 15 6 1806 Jn 28 2 1808 Martha WINBOW married Thomas CARTER at St Marys on 14 2 1828 in the presence of John WINBOW (mark) and Thomas Whittern(clerk?), hence my interest. I would be pleased to receive any information on either William WINBOW or Mary CLEAVELY.

    2. Hello Alf, I have tried to reach you before with no luck. I have John FLIGHT born August 5, 1695 in Kings Stanley married 1716 in Minchinhampton to SARAH BEARD born October 29, 1693 I have a question mark that her father might be DANIEL BEARD. Could you give me confirmation or any more information. Sarah and Johns daughter ESTER FLIGHT born January 15, 1726 in Rodborough died January 28, 1789 married EDWARD SHIPWAY. I have copies of documents from Rodborough parish records showing the Beards selling the church pews to the Shipways. Born probably means christened. Any information you care to share will be appreciated. Thanks, Gwen Lamie, Montreal
