    3. Hi Carolyn The Hart family have been in Hawkesbury from at least 1622, when John HART maried Tracy LONGDEN. Charles had siblings Anne, Sarah, Thomas, Father is John HART & Mary ADY, His Parents were Robert HART & Mary WITCHEL.other children were Thomas,Mary. Charles Hart was a signitory to a document 20 May 1752 at Hawkesbury. There is no reference to an occupation probably Ag Labs Are you sure Charles married in Dursley is from Hawkesbury the register just gives the names yet the Dursley vicar at that time used to say foriener/s against entries if not from Dursley and on the 26th April 1706 Charles HART labourer married Alice MOOR at Dursley could this be same person? if so he would be only 8 if from Hawkesbury. I notice from the IGI someone has been a bit over active on the HART family and have taken HORT family to be HART's and uploaded it so a bit of a mine field. I think we can marry off the above siblings I think Charles sister was the matriarch of the Hawkesbury NIBLETS One thing to look out for at Hawkesbury is George HART he married Dorithy CLARKE 19th Sep 1653 he was from Clutton Somerset was this new blood or a branch of the previous Hawkesbury line. regards Robert visit my pages at http://www.hawkesburyhistory.co.uk ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, December 13, 2003 5:50 PM Subject: [HWK] Re:HART..OWEN..ADY..MITCHEL > Hi I am looking for information on the following people: > Charles HART and Elizabeth OWEN md 6 Dec 1725 Dursley..Charles was born in > Hawkesbury 1698. > > John HART and Mary ADY md 1 Jul 1688 Hawkesbury > > Robert HART and Mary MITCHEL md 29 June 1654 Hawkesbury. > > I am looking for additional family...occupations..syblings..children..Any > information appreciated. > > Regards > Carolyn Ostler > [email protected] > > > ==== ENG-GLO-HAWKESBURY Mailing List ==== > Please remember when you post messages that SURNAMES should be in CAPITALS. > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > > >

    3. Oooooh, Me, Me ME!!!!! (Waving) I have to admit I cannot put my Jane Hale in Hawkesbury, and she first appears in 1809 in Kingswood as Mrs Thomas Vaisey. But by complicated cousinage, her son comes out to Australia in 1839 with some of the Hawkesbury SARGEANTS. I never have found the relatives in Australia (unfortunately mine went to New South Wales, not Tasmania) who wrote and said you could find gold in the streets. Good family story, pity gold hasn't been discovered at the time. Think they may have been referring to the fact land was basically being given away. My HALES are also said to be connected to Sir James HALE, but have never been able to confirm that, either. Thanks for the offer! 3. Hello Again I did a bit more research and I have identified 2 of these childrens parents, unfortunately they are not the ones I am looking for. I have listed them below in case somebody else is interested. Martha COATES born 1852 died 1859 Hawkesbury is the Child of Thomas COATES (Parents Betty COATES and Lazarus HIGGS) and Hester LEWIS. Thomas COATES born 1831 is the step borther of Willian COATES born 1812 Hawkesbury (Parents Betty COATES born 1784 Hawkesbury and William THOMPSON.) Eliza COATES born 1838 died 1844. I have not found her parents yet. ELLEN COATES, b. June 16, 1859, Hawkesbury Upton; d. 1863, = Hawkesbury Upton is the Child of Edwin COATES born 1827 Hawkesbury and Susannah BOULTON. Edwin COATES is the son of Giles COATES born (1787 Hawkesbury) and Hannah WIMBOW. Giles COATES is Betty COATES (born 1784 Hawkesbury) brother. Robert, I think I probably have the same information as you if it is the same as supplied by Bob COATES. The Giles COATES born 1824 you have mentioned is the son of Giles COATES (born 1787 Hawkesbury) and Hannah WIMBOW mentioned above. They are off a side shoot of my COATES family. 1. [HWK] TOGHILL, CHAPPELL, ETC
    2. R.P. & A.L.Lawrence
    3. Hi all I am trying to sort out some of my TOGHILLs again. Hugh Watts TOGHILL (sometimes WATTS, sometimes TOGHILL) married Mary Ann CHAPPELL (various spellings) at Hawkesbury on 28th February 1875. Hugh was a hawker and died in Chepstow R.D. in the September quarter 1876. He was the illegitimate son of Daniel Watts and his cousin Jane Watts, but Jane was the widow of Thomas Toghill, which is why he used both names. I have not yet found a marriage of Daniel and Jane. In 1881, Mary Ann TOGHILL is living with her parents (George and Jane CHAPPELL) at Beach Grove, Starveall, Hawkesbury. She is age 27 and a widow. There are two children, listed as being in the house next door, but clearly part of the same household. They are Alfred TOGHILL (age 6) and Rosa A TOGHILL (age 6 months), decribed as grandchildren of George Chappell. In 1891, George and Jane CHAPPELL are still at Starveall, with their grandson Daniel TOGHILL, age 16. I have not found Mary Ann TOGHILL or Rosa TOGHILL in the 1891 Avon census index, but she appears to have had a son Walter, whose birth was registered in Chipping Sodbury R.D.in the December quarter 1883. There is no sign of Mary Ann TOGHILL in the 1891 or 1901 censuses. Daniel and Walter TOGHILL are living in 1901 with their uncle Frederick Chappell at Abertillery. Alf Beard's database on RootsWeb World Connect (are you on this mailing list, Alf?) shows that George CHAPPELL (born 1827 Little Badminton) married Jane TOGHILL. Is there any evidence for this? I cannot find it in the GRO index between 1841 and 1855. Are Alfred TOGHILL (6 in 1881) and Daniel TOGHILL (16 in 1891) one and the same person? Again, there is no suitable birth, under either name, in the GRO index 1874-1876. What happened to Mary Ann TOGHILL after 1883, when Walter was born? Did she remarry? There is neither a marriage or death on FreeBMD. Rosa TOGHILL is working in Battersea as a cook in 1901. Any help, or suggestions, would be much appreciated. This lot seem to have been rather casual about relationships, registration, and surnames. 1. [HWK] JOSEPH COOK x 2
    2. Brian Morgan
    3. Hello, Keith Many thanks for your most valuable input and for jogging me about Mary RANNOLS age. Having two Joseph and Mary couples in Hawkesbury at the same time has proved one big headache and because the IGI and Phillimore both listed the Mary RANNOLS marriage I expected it to be of greater genealogical significance than the other. I note from the current edition of the IGI though that it was seemingly a Mary RANNOLS searcher in the LDS who input her details and who didn't know much about Joseph COOK(E) Anyway, it is now clear that the childless couple in the 1851 is the Mary RANNOLS one, because, as you say she was too young if born in 1794 to be married but her 1851 census age puts her at 1775 so well able to marry in 1804, as described by the IGI. So I've corrected my entries in this respect and added the HAWKER info you provided Carole Sharp provided me with details of Thomas COOK aged 20 from Hawkesbury who was a Male Servant with John MINETT and family in 1841. He looks to me to be born into the John COOK/Ann RODWAY line because Thomas is such a well established name in this line of COOK and there is a gap there. Do you know of him? He is not listed in Gloucs in 1851 Census. Here is the genealogical data for Joseph/Mary RANNOLS I have no idea who the parents for these two might be. Descendants of Mary Rannols Generation No. 1 1. MARY1 RANNOLS was born Abt. 1775 in Hawkesbury Upton, and died Aft. 1851 in Hawkesbury, Gloucs. She married JOSEPH COOK March 25, 1804 in Hawkesbury. He was born 1779 in Hawkesbury, and died Aft. 1851. Notes for MARY RANNOLS: IGI NOTE this was submitted by member of LDS Church who did not know the details of Joseph Cook so obviously was more interested in Rannols name?
