Hi Freda, I am having the same problem but as far as I know there is no way you can find out. There will not have been a census in South Africa. I guess the only way you can find out is from the regiment but I don't think that will be a very easy task. I am 100% that my Grandfather was in South Africa because he had the medals to prove it. Guess we will just have to mark them absent!
