    3. Hi Kim, The hamlet of Arnold before 1867 was in Swine parish and after that date it was in Skirlaugh parish. The place itself is very close to the village of Long Riston which has a parish of its own. So before 1867 you need to look at Swine and Long Riston and after 1867 at Skirlaugh and Long Riston. There are some Taylors shown as being born in Arnold in the 1851 census index that covers that area. It is the "Skirlaugh" index and is available online from the EYFHS at www.eyfhs.org.uk You may be better trying for a marriage certificate first if you are not sure where the event took place. Have you looked at http:\\.freebmd.rootsweb.com Peter B ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kim Craven" <kim.craven@virgin.net> To: <ENG-EAST-YORKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: 05 October 2002 02:21 Subject: [ERY] TAYLOR born in Arnold Dear Listers My GGGrandmother was Emily TAYLOR born c1852 in Arnold, Yorkshire. According to the family bible she married George DOBSON, born in Little Coates, Linconshire on the 9th December 1869. Unfortunately the bible doesn't say which church. I am guessing that it would most likely have been the brides parish, because according to the 1881 census their son William, was also born there on18 March 1871. Can some kind soul with local knowledge of Arnold, Yorkshire maybe advise me which church it would most likely have been? Does anyone have easy access to this churches records?? Finally, is there anyone else with TAYLOR ancestors from Arnold, Yorkshire. Thanks so much for bearing with me Kim ______________________________

    3. Hi Peter Thanks very much for your advice. Unfortunately the 1851 index is no use to me just yet as Emily TAYLOR was born c1852, although i did hope that with a population of just 101 it could be that all the TAYLOR's in Arnold were related. Once i know more i will probably purchase the 1851 census index. Emily's birth is not on free bmd. The marriage however is on free bmd in the district of Hull. This is most likely my next step. Thanks again for taking the trouble to reply Kim drofeeb wrote: > Hi Kim, > The hamlet of Arnold before 1867 was in Swine parish and after > that date it was in Skirlaugh parish.
