Dear Carolyn I am sure that we would all be interested in the information from your Hull Advertiser. As it sounds as if it is about to disintegrate might I suggest that you take some advice from a local Archives Office about the best way to conserve it. The local County Record Office here in Manchester operates a conservation service for the public at a very reasonable cost and, perhaps, an office near you would do the same. It would be a shame if the newspaper disappeared in a puff of dust one day! While you are deciding what to do with it I suggest that you keep it flat and don't fold it up again. I have a letter, written in 1862, in my possession and I did nothing about conserving it and now it is in several pieces with some of the writing missing where the folds were. Fortunately I had transcribed it but it isn't the same as having the letter intact. Welcome to the list and good luck with your researches. Mary Pendlebury Oldham Lancashire England
