They are the PICKARDs in Beverley, 1820 onward, and the BECKETTs in North Frodingham, early to mid 19th century. I'm fairly certain that nearly all the Pickards in Beverley between 1820-1880 were related, having come to Bev from (possibly) Carlton/Coverham in North Yorks. Surnames related to my Pickards in Bev are LEASON, ELDON, SWANN, BRUSBY, OSGERBY and TAIT. Sandy Alexander Toronto, Canada ______________________________
Hello all: Hope this is the correct forum, if not, please direct me... I have a very fragile copy of The Hull Advertiser and Exchange Gazette, dated Saturday, January 26, 1811. There is some genealogical info listed here as to births/marriages, etc. If anyone is interested, I will photocopy (possibly) then input the info. Not sure I want to keep folding and refolding it. What do you all think? Any interest? Or would you rather me photocopy or scan it and send on to one of you who are more familiar with the names/places/old spellings than I, and less apt to make errors? Respectfully, carolyn newcomb huntington beach, california (with ancestors from Lincolnshire and Devon) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vanessa Whitehead" <vanessaw@gto.net> To: <ENG-EAST-YORKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 24, 2002 6:52 PM Subject: RE: [ERY] Pickard in Beverley > hope this is useful: > From the 1851 Beverley census index (FORMAT= NAME AGE PLACE OF BIRTH FOLIO) > HO 107/2359 > FOL LISTED AFTER NAME:PICKARD > ALICE (1) BEVERLEY 458 > ANDREW (28) BEVERLEY 426V > ANN (4) BEVERLEY 426V > BETSY (48) GREAT GRIMSBY LIN 401V > CHARLES (26) MIDDLEHAM 459V > CHARLES (21) BEVERLEY 403 > CHARLES (2) BEVERLEY 459V > CHARLES FRANCIS (2) BEVERLEY 412 > EDMUND (40) CAISTOR 400 > ELIZABETH (3) BEVERLEY 400 > ELLEN (3) BEVERLEY 458 > GEORGE (52) THORNGUMBALD 297 > GEORGE (7) NEWBALD 458 > HANNAH (53) COTTINGHAM 403 > JAMES (16) ETTON 333V > JANE (30) BEVERLEY 458 > JANE (27)WEEL 459V > JOHN (29) MIDDLEHAM 458 > JONATHAN (2) BEVERLEY 426V > LONSDALE (38) CARLTON 401V > MARGARET (9) BEVERLEY 400 > MARGARET J. Someone (?Sandy) was interested in the above surname. (Sorry I have deleted the original message). I have an 1851 Directory covering Hull, York and various places roundabout. The Pickard entry for Beverley is: Charles Pickard, sawyer, Walkergate, Beverley Hope this is of use. Mary Varley
