    3. Hello all, For anyone with an interest in Staintondale and Ravenscar area - this notice appeared in my local paper: 'The first meeting of Staintondale and Ravenscar Local History Group's new session will be held in Staintondale village Hall on Tuesday, September 17, at 7.30pm. This will take the form of a planning meeting to put in place detailed arrangements for the exhibition to be held on October 20, based on 'People and Places' in the area. This will include many local properties and families, including the church and the schools. All welcome.' - I am hoping to get to this meeting and I wonder if there is anyone else out there with ancestors in this area. I am particularly interested in the Alum works and associated industry in the area. My gg.grandfather, Thomas PATTERSON(or PATTISON) was born at Peak (Ravenscar) and employed at the alum works (1851 census) which was, by this time, in decline.
