    3. One of the pieces of information I accumulated when I was researching speculatively, and wills were 75p, was the will of William MAINPRIZE of Brandsburton. I now know he is not connected to my research, and would be happy to pass it on to anyone with an interest. He died 3rd Sept. 1875 at Bransburton. Other family members mentioned are his son Christopher, son William, daughter Ann RICHARDSON, wife of William John RICHARDSON of Beverley. William was a Yeoman, and widower at the time of the will, (6th Jan 1870). Other names mentioned in the will, who appear to be the tennants of his cottages are: Robert SIMPSON; David HELBECK, Thomas PERHIN (not very clear, could be wrong), Charlotte MALTBY, Robert BARNETT and Richard COLEMAN. One thing that interested me re-reading the will was that he left several cottages and money to his family, e.g. £200 to his daughter, and yet the value of the estate is given as under £100. Was he over optimistic, or perhaps his estate was sorted out prior to his death to avoid duties? Please contact me off list if you like the will. Martin Cross Brighton.
