Betty. Hi Betty The "Oxford Dictionary of Music" says that he was born in Hull in 1823, and died in Ticehurst, East Sussex in 1876, but no other family information. I'm pretty sure you would find something about him in a biographical dictionary - I believe there may be some online somewhere, or perhaps you could try Google. You could also try the multi-volumed Groves Dictionary of Music and Musicians which you may find in a large library. Arthur Kennedy
