Darlene, as you already know the 1881 Census for England & Wales (but not Scotland) is at www.FamilySearch.org. The index for the 1901 UK Census can be viewed, free of charge, at: www.census.pro.gov.uk, the images of the Census returns, and transcriptions, can also be downloaded, for a small charge, from this site. Full instructions are provided for how to access the Index, pay for images etc. There have been plans for the PRO to add other Censuses to their Online service, but this has been delayed, and the currents plans are unclear. www.Ancestry.co.uk has started to offer the 1891 census, and has indicated that they will be adding other Censuses (1841-1881), although I am not aware of the status of Indexes. A separate useful project for the UK Birth/Marriage/Death Indexes can be accessed at: http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl, although it should be noted that this project is ongoing and currently incomplete (e.g. marriages for most years are about 70-90% complete, births & deaths are generally lower). How does one obtain the census records for the UK ? Is there a web site that you can purchase them from ? I have been to the FHL of the LDS and found wonderful 1881 census information on my families and just like the rest of us ...I WANT MORE...LOL. I see people asking sks that has access to the different census years to do look ups and have been wondering if they own their own copies of these records or what. Sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but my local library doesnt seem to have this for me to look at. And I haven't found the records to purchase...Thank you to anyone or everyone that can help me out..Darlene
