Hello Susan, The Nicholson I have is on my fathers maternal line: Hair or Hare (they keep changing the spelling). 2 x grgrandfather Patrick Hair (b. c1797 - Hull - a cabinet maker). He married Sarah Nicholson 20/6/1824 Holy Trinity, Hull. 1851 census shows her born Hull, but 1861 shows Kirkella. Does this help?
