Hi Gail, I read your e-mail with interest as we are also thought to be related to Amy Johnson. My GGrandfather was a Robert Johnson, born in Kingston on Hull, as was Amy. There is a very good History of Amy Johnson on the Internet. I do know that she attended Sheffield University which is where some of the Johnsons lived. This is where my GGrandfather moved to as well. Unfortunately I haven't had time to track down the links on the Johnsons yet. The only other thing I can tell you is that she met a tragic end in the Thames River flying a Plane down from Scotland for the RAF in early 1940's she was born around (I believe) c1902 in Hull. She was also the World's first Ground Mechanic as well as a super flyer. Flew solo to New Zealand etc. ----- Original Message ----- From: <GHaigh9483@aol.com> To: <ENG-EAST-YORKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 06, 2003 11:16 AM Subject: [ERY] Fenton, Johnson.( amy) > Hi everyone, > I am researching FENTON'S from the Seaton Ross area. > My Gt,Gt, Grandmother was a Johnson before marriage, and I believe she was a > cousin of AMY JOHNSON the flyer.
