Dear List members, i am trying to trace the birth of Joshua ROBERTS, an ancestor who lived in various towns and villages in Lincolnshire from 1790 to his death in 1805. However, I know that he was apprenticed to John HINCHCLIFF, clothier, at Clayon, High Hoyland for a period of four or five years from 1770, when he was (according to a later Settlement Certificate in Lincolnshire) 17. So, he was born in or around 1753, probably (it seems to me) in Yorkshire somewhere. I know this is the wrong list for the High Hoyland area (West Riding), but there were later family connections with Beverley, so I wondered whether anyone might have come across him.
