Please forgive my ignorance as I know very little about genealogical records in England. I am trying to locate a family in the 1851 census and am not sure exactly how much information I will need to do that or even where I can go to do it. Here is what I am looking for Isaiah Thorp and Ann Hance married in 1836 in Kilnwick, Yorkshire, England. I believe this may be the family of my gg grandfather who sailed from Liverpool to the U.S. in 1856. If I can find this family in 1851 the children and their ages should tell me if I have the correct family. With what I presently know what would be my next step in locating this family in 1851? Do I need a specific address? Are indexes available for Kilnwick? thanks, </kerry> "When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. Hello, To Kerry and anyone else who needs help on genealogical records in England (or indeed the rest of the UK, or Ireland or the crown dependencies of the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands) a good place to start is the GENUKI site (it stands for GENealogy in the UK and Ireland) at: www.genuki.org.uk This provides a wealth of information.
