    1. [ERY] re: MINOR LANDHOLDERS IN DOMESDAY
    2. Good day! :) Does anyone know of a good, accessible edition of the Domesday book that includes "minor" landholders and/or lordships. Most editions/translations seem only to include what they call "major" landholders. I've checked quite a few versions out at my local library and, believe me, if you're interested in doing Domesday research, you'll want to do that. Each of them contained varying deegrees of detail...some had better explainations than others...some showed ONLY one major landholder, while other versions showed the Barons and all others below them, who were in some way responsible or in charge of that piece of land, all the way down to stating, for example, 4 sections held in lordships. what i'm looking for is to see, in writing, who these Lords were (their names). i happen to know that the family i'm researching held land in Lordship under several major landholders, in several different locations to the extent that they were allowed to will that land to their heirs, who, to this day, still have a vested interest in some of it. i can't, however, find a translation/edition detailed enough to include that information, so that i might provide the family written proof (just to have) of the date that land was first given them. it's needless to say i don't have access to the original document, nor the education to read it if i did. Any help would be appreciated. :) Best Regards, P. Wiedman, geneologist
