George THOMAS was born in Whixley 1828 son of John THOMAS and Charlotte FAWCETT (nee Wiseman), he married Elizabeth STORY 28th March 1856 at St Thomas's in York, they had 6 children, all born in Warter John born 8th July 1857 William born Sept Q 1859 Charlotte Elizabeth born Mar Q 1862 died 15th July 1880 George born 1865 died 1946 Richard born 1869 Lillie born June Q 1874 died 23 July 1880 John THOMAS, my husband's Great Grandfather, married Johanna Curtis 5th March 1879 in Primitive Methodist Chapel Pocklington They moved to Stainton, where John was blacksmith and Parish Clerk They had 5 children - Willie George b july 1880 died Oct 1881, John (husband's grandfather) b 1881 d 22 Nov 1917 in France. Frederick b Sept 1883 d july 1885, George b Jun Q 1886 d Mar 1905, Elizabeth b 1888. William married Violetta JOHNSON 21 December 1880 in Millington, they had 4 children - Lily b 1882. Violetta b 1883, Arthur b 1885 and Joseph b 1898, d 1902. William was the blacksmith in Millington George married Ada SAALFIELD Sept Q 1893 in Hull. Children George Roy b 1894, Henry b 1896 d 1967, Madge Elizabeth b Dec Q1897 and Anne b Dec Q 1899 Richard married Sarah ?, one known child Charlotte Abia b Sept Q 1897 George and Richard followed their father and were blacksmiths in Warter.
