Hello Linda, My gt. gt. aunt, Paulina WING nee FEWSON died in similar circumstances in one of the then, worst slums in Hull. She had Smallpox which developed after being vaccinated against it. Knowing that it was a terminal illness, she obviously removed herself from her children, husband and neighbours in Patrington and lived her remaining weeks/days in the home of an extremely poor widow in Wincomlee who obviosly nursed her during her remaining days. Paulina died in 1844, but none of her family caught the disease. I have tried, unsuccesfully to find out how long her nurse lived. This is where the awfulness of conditions in those days strikes home. Peter Fewson
