    3. Numbers 14 & 16 High Street would indeed have not existed as High Street then but the cottages referred to are between the Blacksmiths (which existed on the opposite corner of Cliff Lane to where the White Horse pub now stands) and the junction of St Michaels Walk, once known as Poor Folks Lane as it appears on 1851 Map. Nowadays Number 24 High Street is the first older cottage past the Former Blacksmiths (and is a larger house than the smaller cottages to the right of this). Then there are 5 cottages to the right before Poor Folks Lane. 16 & 18 High Street may have in earlier censuses around 1861 been thesecon and third end cottage before Poor Folks Lane as now -A Map Of Old Bempton in 1851 on www.old-maps.co.uk shows the row of cottages directly above(about an inch above) the i in St Michael's Ch. text The road does not indeed appear to pass in front of these cottages at this point.I do not know if later O/s Maps show the road appearing and when. Any other suggestions to identify the occupants would be most welcome.Has anyone got access to the Electoral roll for Bempton or could some kind soul do a look up at Beverley for me please.
