    3. Hi all -- I'm getting increasingly dissatisfied with my current genealogy software because it doesn't have a global search function. As my tree expands, I find I can no longer remember which family twig came through West Heslerton or wherever or which one was a lime burner. I also prefer software where you can see as many members of a nuclear family on a single page as possible. My current software lets me see eight children. Some only show four. This, however, is not a requirement if I can find global search capabilities. Does anyone have any recommendations? Nancy Shepherdson Barrington, USA

    3. Nancy, Which is the best genealogical software usually depends upon the individual. Kith and Kin Pro might be what you are looking for with a relational database and SQL for queries. Its display a families trees is unique and interactive. However not for everyone. Check out www.softspan.org. There is a free or cheap trial version. If the database is the important thing to you check out Custodian3 (www.custodian3.com, I think). It does not connect individuals so needs to be used in conjunction with a .'normal' genealogical program that shows relationships. No connection with companies, only a user.
