Hi Tony. Thank you for your help. Well, this will throw the cat among the pidgeons!! John Watson Coates was married twice himself! Gertrude died in 1903 and he married a Thirza Hanson whom I can find no information for. She was one of those wicked stepmothers from what my mum has told me as her poor mother was JW's daughter! Many thanks Angela and Tony. Hi Sue, From www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk I see that John Watson Coates & Thirza Hanson were married at Clowes Chapel in Hull in 1906 ~ perhaps there's some kind soul on the list who could do a look up for you? You might at least then have her father's name (which might not be Hanson if this was also her second marriage).
