Hi Valerie and List, Thankyou for pointing me in the right direction re collecting more information. I shall certainly follow through. I think you are quite right Valerie as to the Northallerton and Beverley references, also thankyou for the lead to Ryedale Family History Site... I also think The Borthwick may cast some light on other aspects of the research. I say this as I would like to know where Isaac Elliot procured his land from. He had 131 Acres in Slingsby and his sister had at least another two hundred Acres another probable brother also held land...family lore dictates that it was given for services rendered.
