While on the subject of the surname BATTY, does anyone know where Batty Place, Scarborough was located? It seems to have been close to Sandside, as the given address of some of my mother's 19th Century relatives seems to fluctuate between Batty Place and Sandside. Also why was it called Batty Place? Again my mother's family MENNELL also moved from Sculcoates in the middle of the 19th Century to Scarborough, so is there a wider connection? Peter
