Hi further to my earlier posting this baptism is unlikely to be at seamer. The brackets do not mean only the mother is shown as all the entries from this film are done in exactly the same manner even when both parents are shown. This entry has no source call no. as those inputed as part of the church program do and I can find no reference to the film no. quoted in the Mormon church library. It may well be the brackets indicate a unstraight forward or questionable source and given that the prinipal church in Scarborough has been batch inputed by the Mormon church for this time period and should be on the IGI - if it is a bishop's transcript has been misspelt from the original register or vice-versa. If you have the time I would suggest that you use the batch no of the Scarborough church C053884 film in family search IGI narrow the date to that year but put no name and it will produce a list from that year of all baptisms and you may be able to see if surnames thereon are similar to Oman misspelt hope that helps John Ferguson EYFHS committee member ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis Corbett" <denniscorbett@denniscorbett.e.telefonica.net> To: <eng-east-yorks@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 27, 2008 11:07 PM Subject: [ENG-EAST-YORKS] Seamer baptism > Could anybody with IGI and Scarborough knowledge help me understand an IGI > entry please? > > It is for Mary Oman, christened in "Scarborough, Bts, Yorkshire" and the > name is written as <Oman> > > Only the mother, Jane, is named. Hi John I've doen as you say, but just get a message that there are no results! Seems strange, but I entered just what you suggested. It doesn't seem to like no name. Regards Dennis On 28/1/08 22:41, "John Ferguson" <fergy@fergy.karoo.co.uk> wrote: > C053884
