The Hornsea & District Heritage computer Archive now has 2000 photographs of Hornsea and the surrounding villages and the people who lived there. It is in the shop at the North Holderness Museum of Village Life ( Hornsea Museum ) in Newbegin, Hornsea and is free to use. Copies of many of the photos can be ordered at a minimal cost. The Museum has recently been extended with a new section featuring its Hornsea Pottery collection. They have also produced a series of lottery funded DVDs in which elderly local residents give their reminicences of times past in Hornsea. these can be viewed free in the Museum and are also available to buy. Withernsea Lighthouse Museum and Hedon Museum have been a part of this project and have a similar series of DVDs for their own areas. Peter B
I can only endorse this museum as well. They helped me with some family research. The man who set up the museum in the seventies was looking for a blacksmith's forge to recreate in the museum and hoped to find my GG x3 old forge in nearby Bewholme, it had gone by then, but was still in living memory, which was very touching for me to hear. kind regards Deirdra Pickering On 7 Aug 2008, at 10:51, drofeeb wrote: > The Hornsea & District Heritage computer Archive now has 2000 > photographs of Hornsea and the surrounding villages and the people > who lived there. > It is in the shop at the North Holderness Museum of Village Life > ( Hornsea Museum ) in Newbegin, Hornsea and is free to use. > Copies of many of the photos can be ordered at a minimal cost. > > The Museum has recently been extended with a new section featuring > its Hornsea Pottery collection. > > They have also produced a series of lottery funded DVDs in which > elderly local residents give their reminicences of times past in > Hornsea. these can be viewed free in the Museum and are also > available to buy. > Withernsea Lighthouse Museum and Hedon Museum have been a part of > this project and have a similar series of DVDs for their own areas. > > Peter B > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ENG-EAST-YORKS-request@rootsweb.com > with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and > the body of the message
