As part of the Yorksgen Conference, which is happening at the University of York at present, we have several events and tours planned, which we hope some local residents might like to join in. Visitors to "Yorksgen" come from all over the world and would benefit from being able to talk to people with local knowledge, particularly researching families in this area. You are invited to join us at Speakers' Day, this coming Tuesday, the 15th, at which we will have five (or maybe six) speakers. This is at the Borthwick Institute, starting at 10am, until approximately 4pm. If you would like to attend this, *** please let me know as soon as possible, as places are very limited.*** There is a small charge (hopefully not more than five pounds) for this day, to be shared between the people who attend, so the more people, the cheaper it gets! Speakers include: Dr. Phillippa Hoskin, of the Borthwick Institute, "Resources available at the Borthwick" Christine Willott, "What our Ancestors Ate" including samples which will be our lunch! Jackie Depelle, "Chasing Million Eyres - From Leeds to Kamschatka" which includes a number of more unusual sources and has a small international element. Colin Blanshard Withers, author of "Yorkshire Parish Registers," and "Yorkshire Probate." For something completely different, Colin's talk will be 'Taking DNA to a Brick Wall." A guided walk around the City of York is planned for later in the week. I will post details later. Regards Janice Wood
