Hello, Pat in Canada,   I'm Brigitte in Clifton, Virginia, with lots of ancestors from the East Riding of Yorkshire.  I checked on the Genuki website, and there are a number of Bartons right there in Yorkshire which might be the place you are looking for, one near Richmond, in north Yorkshire.  At least try them before looking into Lancashire, unless you have a hunch you are following.   You can click on the hyperlinks below if they have survived this posting; otherwise google GENUKI, go to their site map, and look for "where is it in Yorkshire?"    http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/Misc/Where/index.html.   I would think that the one near Richmond (at least) is worth checking into.  You probably already know how to do searches using batch numbers for any particular town you are researching.  If not, I could probably help out. Hello Brigitte, Thank you for your e mail. The Barton in Lancashire will be the one I need I think. She, and her husband, moved to the Manchester area.Thomas her husband became a missionary working for the Manchester City Mission. My husbands ancestors mostly come from Yorkshire,the Holderness area. Easington is the area where our family is from. We visited Easington a few years ago. Have you visited Yorkshire? I would really be most grateful for any help regarding searching by batch number.
