Haltemprice was an Urban District Council. It covered the areas bounded by Cottingham, Willerby, Anlaby, Hessle and North Ferriby. This council was formed after the war with offices at Anlaby House, Anlaby. The first Chairman of the Council happened to be my grandfather. You are correct about Haltemprice Priory. There is a coat of arms of this Priory on the Cottingham web site at http://www.cottinghamuk.co.uk/pic.asp?cmd=7&search=haltemprice&submit1=Search&num=10 I doubt if this has anything to do with Howden Price which looks as if it is in Howden (near Goole) but I stand to be corrected Victor Chris W wrote: > Colin, > > > Howden Price:- I think this refers to Haltemprice just > south of Cottingham village.
