Graham I was brought up in Hessle and just can't figure out how Daircoates could possibly be in the Parish of North Ferriby. As you say Dairycoates is 2 miles west of Hull. Hessle is another 2 miles further west followed by North Ferriby a further 2 miles (at least) west. In my younger days I was a frequent visitor to Dairycoates locomotive depot. In those days one could walk willy nilly among the locomotives. Hello, Dairy Coates farm was where the engine shed was later built, in 1855 it was in a detached part of North Ferriby parish. Ed.
