Hallo Bridget Have you tried Ancestry.com. I have done most of my research on this site. I have also used familysearch.org, the mormon site. i actually live in market Weighton. My 3x gr. grandfather James LAWSON was buried in Market Weighton, age 28, on June 28, 1815. This is all I know of him, other than figuring out he was born cr. 1787, but I don't know where. His wife, Sarah (I think LEWIS, but am not 100% sure) must have been just pregnant when he died as she gave birth to a son, James Posthumous LAWSON, bapt. Feb. 21 1816 in Market Weighton, father stated as being James LAWSON an Ale House Keeper. > > Where can I write to have a search of P.R's done for a possible marriage? Hi Lynda, I don't have a paid subsricption to Ancestry...........too expensive for me, but I do use it free at the Library quite often. I shall have to check again for this time period. I know they only have the BMD's that FreeBMD have transcribed so far. And yes I first found James LAWSON 's baptism on www.familysearch.org but there is no marriage on there of his parents. As you live in Market Weighton could you please tell me where would be the closest record office I could get in touch with? Many thanks for your suggestions as I need all the help I can get with this brick wall. Bridget The records office for Market Weighton would be at Beverley. If you are looking for anything before 1837 you wont find these on FreeBMD nor Ancestry. Records prior to this date will be at Beverley or on the IGI.
