Is anyone researching the Renney line? I am particularly interested in a Renney whose wife was a Wilson. They would have married in the early 1800’s. James Renney was born about 1809 in Kingston upon Hull, but I have not been able to find a record of his birth. James tombstone in Simcoe County, Ontario says he died March 14, 1872 at the age of 63. Family lore says he had a brother John and his mother was a Wilson who married a Renney. Her family was not happy with their marriage as James Renney’s father was a commoner. James Renney married Elizabeth Grice on the 26th of August 1829 in Butterwick by Great Driffield, Yorkshire. She was the oldest daughter of David Grice and Elizabeth Weans. She was christened in January of 1813 so likely was born in late 1812. (Her christening and their marriage have been verified using records at the Family History Library in Salt Lake. The LDS marriage record did not give parents names.) James Renney and Elizabeth Grice Renney immigrated to Ontario, Canada around 1850 when one of Elizabeth Grice’s brothers moved to Kent County, Ontario. Elizabeth Grice’s brother, William Grice b: May 30, 1824 married Jane Pinkney (B: 1827 in Yorkshire) and appear in the 1851 census in Kent County, Ontario. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Marilyn in Arizona No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG.
