    3. Hi there, I can't see any BULMER's listed in my copy of the Hutton Cranswick MI's and only a couple, we do not appear to be yours in the Driffield MI's. Sorry, I hope someone else can help you further. I am looking for William BULMER who married Margaret WALKER in June 1815. They had one child Richard BULMER born 1821 and then William disappears. I have checked all the census and can't find him at all. Margaret BULMER/WALKER went on to have several more children, all illegitimate 2 of which she is listed as a single woman, but the census has her listed as a widow in 1851. Thomas b. Oct. 1825, Thomas b. Mar. 1827, John b. Aug. 1823, Marmaduke(Duke) b. 1829, , Walker b. 1834, William b. Feb. 1836, and Mary or Margaret b. 1841. Does anyone have access to cemetery records for Hutton Cranswick or the Driffield? I don't have death dates for any of them. Does anyone have any ideas of the father William BULMER, I couldn't see him listed in the death index. 2. Deirdra Pickering
    3. Hello friends, Just to brainstorm - I am looking for an Esther Pickering, she must have married into a Pickering family, whose I don't know. Just wanted any ideas on alternate names / shortened names for Esther - like Peggy for Margaret. Can anyone think of another name for Esther? Was Esther a popular name for some one born possible in Yorkshire around 1860 - 1890? Kind regards Deirdra Pickering PS - I may be able to do simple look ups on the indices of the Irish BMD records.

    3. Hi Valerie, Thanks for this. I'm not sure if W R LAPISH connects to my family, but I will save this information just in case. I first need to find Christiana's birth and find her parents and siblings. All I know at the moment is that Christiana LAPISH was born c1773 and that she married my 4xG Grandfather John RAWLING in Norton in 1799. It seems to me that my LAPISHs were probably born in or around Malton and several then moved to Sculcoates, although some seem to have stayed in Malton. Christiana is an unusual enough name for her baptism to be established if I knew which parish to look at, but there doesn't seem to be anything online at present. Unlike John RAWLING....there seem to be too many of those born c1778 in a 15 mile radius to be sure!! I think it's very likely though that this LAPISH will turn out to be connected in some way. 1. [ENG-EAST-YORKS] LAPISH - Malton & Sculcoates
    2. Jan Holmes
    3. Hi, Does anyone have any LAPISH ancestors from Malton and/or Sculcoates in their tree? My 4x Great Grandparents John RAWLING and Christiana (Christy) LAPISH were married in Norton by Malton in 1799 and died in 1813 & 1831 respectively in Sculcoates. In an effort to find parents or siblings (and dates/places of birth) of either of these I have been searching the IGI for LAPISH marriages across about 20 years in both Malton and Sculcoates and have come across these marriages of people called LAPISH who may or may not be siblings of Christiana...... Sculcoates marriages Elizabeth LAPISH and Robert BEEDOM 28 May 1792 Ann LAPISH and Samuel MACKEY 29 Jan 1798 Sarah LAPISH and George JACKS 2 Dec 1801 Harriet LAPISH and William RAWLING 27 Nov 1808 (too much of a coincidence....I feel sure these were siblings of my 4xG G'parents) Mar. LAPISH and Wm. Cannady 29 Aug 1811 St Leonard New Malton marriages William LAPISH and Hannah BIELBY 19 Dec 1802 Joseph LAPISH and Ann WARDELL 5 Nov 1804* Honor LAPISH and Richard WELBORN 3 Dec 1804 *Joseph & Ann LAPISH's son Thomas Wardale LAPISH married Harriet RAWLING in 1829 in Sculcoates. (Harriet RAWLING was the sister of my 3x G G'father William RAWLING) >From this I believe that Joseph and Harriet LAPISH were siblings of Christiana, and William RAWLING was the brother of John. Does anyone recognise any of these marriages? I would love to hear from anyone who has any of these in their tree. 3. Hi Everyone Just reposting some of the info that I sent a few weeks back. Just to let you know that there is still some accommodation available for either of the weeks mentioned. Please let us know ASAP if you may be interested in attending any part of our event or if you would like additional info. A lot of you have probably heard about the event that we have held every 2 years in York since 2000. This year it is named Yorksgen 2008 and it is from Saturday July 5 to Saturday July 19th. You can come for one week or for both weeks. It is a chance for people from all over the world who have an interest in researching their family tree to visit the land where their ancestors came from. We have people coming from Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, Germany, Canada, USA, Scotland and England. This is not part of a commercial event, its just some ordinary people trying to put this together and not for a profit. We stay in student houses near York University. A short bus ride into York. Within walking distance to Borthwick where a lot of the records are held. Each house has 10 single bedrooms, each with bed, wardrobe, desk, sink. Shared facilities include a large well equipped kitchen where we often get together for a lot of fun times. Coin laundry within a couple minutes walk. Store nearby. Charles X11 Pub nearby which is a great spot to get together for a meal, a drink, and social gathering. There is no set program that anyone has to follow. Use the facilities to sleep and do your own thing. Go to the different Archives within Yorkshire. There is a program that has been set but it is up to each individual if they want to participate in any, part, or all of it. The program includes talks, walks, trips and tours and is again based on the cost. Take a look at www.yorksgen.com and follow the links for this event. Don't worry if you are solo as many of the attendees are solo. Don't worry about your age. My mother-in-law Dorothy is coming for the 5th time and she is 83 years old. Don't worry if you don't know anyone. There are lots of new people that come each time and everyone is made to feel welcome and does feel welcome. The cost for accommodation is 90 pounds per week, a price you cannot beat. If you have an interest or would like more information about this event, please contact me offlist. Janet Lovegrove
