    3. Hi Does anyone have access to the Everingham parish registers? I am doing a family tree of the Kempley family which was my mother's maiden name. I have found quite alot of information on the catholic register from about 1771 but looked on familysearch and found William and Ann Rempley baptised 15.02.1756, children of Mark and Ann Rempley at Everingham, and I think the surname is likely to have been Kempley. Please could someone look and see if there are any Kempley or similar names in the registers 1740-1771. Regards Anne

    3. Beverley, As Persis has said there is a legal notification following his death which I will send as a PDF file. In the same newspaper there are two other references to a William Spencer Burnham, who I presume will be the same person. The first is his marriage, recorded in the Hull Packet and East Riding Times of October 9, 1863; it reads: September 30, at the Catholic Chapel, Marton, by Rev. Geo Kearsley, William Spencer Burnham, farmer, Tickton, to Mary Agnes Walker, only surviving daughter of E. Walker Esq, Central House, Wyton. The second one appears in the same paper on 6th August 1869. Under the heading of 'Yorkshire Agricultural Show' in the category of 3 year old coaching fillies, it notes that second place went to William S. Burnham of Tickton. Hope these are yours too. best wishes Martin Cross Brighton ----- Original Message ----- From: <Beverleysusan@aol.com> To: <Eng-East-Yorks-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 13, 2008 1:49 PM Subject: [ENG-EAST-YORKS] Can anyone help ? >I am looking into the death of my 2 x great grandfather William Spencer > Burnham who died in October 1875. 3. Hello Beverley The death certificate should say if there was an inquest. I have just looked on GENUKI and Aldborough is in the West Riding of Yorkshire, Aldbrough is in the East Riding. If no-one can help before then I am going to the British Newspaper Library in Colindale in London in October and could look then. The last time I was there I managed to find inquest reports for some of mine. I know you can pay the staff at the Record Office to do a search for you. I hope this helps. 2. Janice Wood
    3. As part of the Yorksgen Conference, which is happening at the University of York at present, we have several events and tours planned, which we hope some local residents might like to join in. Visitors to "Yorksgen" come from all over the world and would benefit from being able to talk to people with local knowledge, particularly researching families in this area. You are invited to join us at Speakers' Day, this coming Tuesday, the 15th, at which we will have five (or maybe six) speakers. This is at the Borthwick Institute, starting at 10am, until approximately 4pm. If you would like to attend this, *** please let me know as soon as possible, as places are very limited.*** There is a small charge (hopefully not more than five pounds) for this day, to be shared between the people who attend, so the more people, the cheaper it gets! Speakers include: Dr. Phillippa Hoskin, of the Borthwick Institute, "Resources available at the Borthwick" Christine Willott, "What our Ancestors Ate" including samples which will be our lunch! Jackie Depelle, "Chasing Million Eyres - From Leeds to Kamschatka" which includes a number of more unusual sources and has a small international element. Colin Blanshard Withers, author of "Yorkshire Parish Registers," and "Yorkshire Probate." For something completely different, Colin's talk will be 'Taking DNA to a Brick Wall." A guided walk around the City of York is planned for later in the week. I will post details later. Regards Janice Wood

    3. Hi the original church of St Paul was on St Paul street/Cannon street consecrated in 1847 demolished and rebuilt again circa 1980. The mother church was St Mary Sculcoates. It does not appear to have a churchyard for burials which could have been in St Mary's till 1855 or possibly Sculcoates lane - only the general cemetery on Spring Bank was operating in 1847. Most of the other cemeteries do not start to allow burials till the latter part of the century As any burials carried out were unlikely to be based at St Paul's can I suggest that as it was after the national registration scheme started (1837) you may find it easier to use the quarterly indices or try freebmd or yorkshirebmd but you will need to check the coverage. Hull City burial records are only likely to apply to the cemeteries and not to churchyards regards John Ferguson of the EYFHS MI recording team ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kim" <kimquilts@shaw.ca> To: <eng-east-yorks@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2008 11:29 PM Subject: [ENG-EAST-YORKS] death records for Sculcoates >I am interested in reading death records for Sculcoates. > > Can anyone tell me where to locate them?
