    1. [ERY] East Riding 1891 census indices
    2. Steve Baguley
    3. Hi Am I missing something or is there no index to the 1891 census of Yorkshire, especially the East Riding? My local archive offices don't have it and I can find no reference to it on Genuki. If it does exist and if someone has easy access to it I'd be extremely grateful if you let me know the piece and folio numbers for any Peas(e)goods in York. Or anywhere else in Yorkshire for that matter! I'm doing a one name study (registered with the GOONS) and there are quite a few Peas(e)goods in south and east Yorkshire. I'd be happy to look up records from the Bristol area in exchange. Steve Baguley -- stevebaguley@bigfoot.com The Peasgood genealogy site: http://www.peasgood.org.uk

    1. [ERY] Copyleft
    2. Glenys Marriott
    3. I don't know if people are aware of copyleft (as opposed to copyright) but this is a really interesting concept for those of us who are transcribing, publishing books or designing websites. With Copyleft the essential requirements are that those parts of any document taken from Copylefted works will be (a) acknowledged and (b) also Copylefted (and not Copyrighted). Those who wish to make commercial use of Copylefted information are free to do so but in the knowledge that the Copylefted parts of their work may be freely copied and used under Copyleft provisos. If they wish they can Copyright other parts of their work. For those who are interested there is a recent article about Copyleft in New Scientist which is available at www.newscientist.com/hottopics/copyleft. (The article is itself covered by Copyleft). Best wishes Glenys www.bishopdale.demon.co.uk Web site for the Upper Dales Family History Group Seeking CUMPSTONs everywhere

    3. Hello all, Am trying to locate the marriage of my g-grandfather William Wright and g-grandmother Betsy Smith of Welwick, Yorkshire. He was a tailor. Their first child was born in 1858. They show up on the 1861 census with son Herbert 2, and daughter Sarah Ann 1 mo. They had eight children altogether, although 3 died in infancy. He was born abt 1828 and died in 1899. She was born abt 1834 and died in 1872. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. I have not been able to come up with a marriage record as yet. There are too many Wright's and Smith's to make guesses. Thanks, Noreen (Wright) Gunn

    3. Would the kind people who recently helped another lister with a Sculcoates Marraige look up, please take pity on me also? Looking for the marraige between my g-g-grandfather Hendry FRAMINGHAM(of Norfolk) and Elizabeth ROOK about 1835..ish. Have found the baptism of my g-grandfather in Drypool(1840) and the burial of two older sisters in East Sculcoates, but not their baptisms or the parents marraige. I believe Elizabeth ROOK to have been baptised in Holy Trinity in 1814, but no further trace of her there. Any assistance gratefully appreciated. many thanks from Ruth in South Aust.

    1. [ERY] William DOBSON, Hull
    2. If anyone can help with my brick wall, I would surely appreciate it - I have been stuck on this for as long as I've been tracing the family. I don't know what directories, registers, etc. are available to consult, but any clues would be helpful, or any suggestions of places to look. William H. DOBSON, probably born in Hull, March 25, 1824, became a seaman by about 1840, and reportedly left Hull at that time. Thanks - Susan Dobson

    2. Sandy Stokes
    3. Welcome to the list Vanessa. I live just down the road from you in Fonthill, ON. I am wondering if there might be any Stokes families in your 1851 census. My husband's ggrandfather Frances Stokes emigrated from North Dalton in the mid 1800's we think. North Dalton is about 10 mile NE of Beverley, I believe. Perhaps there were family members in Beverly as well. Thanks for your look up offer. Sandy Stokes ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vanessa Whitehead" <vanessaw@gto.net> To: <ENG-EAST-YORKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 19, 2002 9:29 PM Subject: [ERY] Beverley info 1851 Hello I am new to this list. I am researching Whitehead in Beverley. I would love to know if anyone else is. I have many non Whitehead relatives from Beverley. In fact both my Grandma's still reside there. I now live in Ontario Canada, but was born in Grimsby. I have the 1851 index for Beverley town and Beverley area. I do not mind having a peek for info for anyone who requires it. I am hoping to find others on a similar quest. I am enjoying this list so far. cheers from Canada Vanessa Whitehead vanessaw@gto.net ______________________________

    1. [ERY] Dadleys in Norfolk before 1800?
    2. I would like to find out where James Dadley came from.He is a gamekeeper at Holkham Hall 1803-1812,with Sarah his wife who came from Culford in Suffolk. He later worked on the Gunton Estate, and then ended his days as innkeeper at Aylsham where he died in 1846.I have found no other Dadleys in Norfolk before him,so I would be delighted if anyone else has.Dadley is an unusual name which sometimes gets recorded as Dudley: in fact the Holkham records have spelled it so.I have all the I.G.I. instances of this name, and all the Civil Records from 1837. Tony Cooper
