Hi, Today I have managed to get hold of a copy of my grandad "William Fyfe' birth certificate. He was born 15th August 1902 at Thomas Street, Drypool, Hull. His father is listed as Alexander Fyfe and his mother was Janet Fyfe (nee Pattison). Does anyone have anything for any of these names? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Linda _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
Hi Peter, I see that you are hoping to find seamen's records at PRO etc. I have an inland mariner, Robert BOYES, who was in 1868 Steward on the s.s. Albion sailing Hull/Gothenburg. Do you know a method of finding seamen's records? Bob, in Elloughton.
----- Original Message ----- If anyone has an index of Beverley and sub districts, could you please, please look to see if there is a Saunders family, living in Beverley area in the1851 census. William Saunders was of full age when he married so there is no help there, I don't know where he was born. He was a cabinet maker by trade. Any help with this brick wall would be a great help. Tania Hi, Tania I don't have an 1851 Census Index for Beverley but do have an 1851 Directory (which covers Hull, York, and various surrounding areas including Beverley). There is no William Saunders under the category of cabinet maker, but under Joiners and Builders is a William Saunders, Keldgate, Beverley. There were no other references to Saunders in any of the categories shown. Hope this is of help. It might give someone with an Index an address to go on. Hi List If anyone has an index of Beverley and sub districts, could you please, please look to see if there is a Saunders family, living in Beverley area in the1851 census. Elizabeth Chadwick Saunders was born in Beverley in 1848, and remained there for several years, so I am told, possibly at some time without her parents. Her mother was Elizabeth Saunders, nee Chadwick, married in Ancotes Manchester in 1846 age 20 years. I dont know where she was born. William Saunders was of full age when he married so there is no help there, I dont know where he was born. He was a cabinet maker by trade. Any help with this brick wall would be a great help. Tania

Hello Pauline, I used to belong to the East Yorks. FHS , but I'm with the Wharfedale FHS now. In the 1997 EYFHS Members' Interests booklet there isn't anyone researching SHERBURN, but there is a researcher for PEARSON at Hull. Infact there's 5 others though they aren't researching for PEARSON at Hull. If this researchers' address is of any help, I'll forward it. ( But maybe you belong to the EYFHS ?) Her name is Mrs. COATHAM of Canada, incase you already know each other. One researcher only for PINDER in 1867, but no place given. Mrs. BRICKLEBANK of Sth. Australia, if you would like to contact her I'll forward her address. Best wishes, Genny. I hope that more listers will follow the example of others and post names on census pages that they have downloaded. Since my own posting yesterday I have received requests from 15 people asking for details, which I was glad to pass on. Yet another way that we can exchange information and help our fellow researchers. My gr grandfather Henry Atkinson is shown in various sources dated 1866,1881,1891,&1902 that he was a marine fireman (seaman). I am trying to work out approx. when he first went to sea in order to trace his seamans records at the PRO etc. I have the 1851 Beverley Town index which shows him with his parents (?)and siblings(?) aged 19. If someone has access to the 1851 Beverley census or going to the records centre could they please look-up William (43) and Henry (19) and family and advise on their trades, address, and relationships. (census HO 107/2359 folio 491v). The index gives the place of birth. TIA Peter (Newcastle upon Tyne)
Hello friends, I winder if some kind person has the 1851 census for Market Weighton and could do a lookup for me.? I am seeking... William Alexander Johnson b abt. 1848 Market Weighton, son of William Johnson. I have W.A. Johnson on the 1881 census, but he was boarding then with ( I believe an unrelated family), When he married in Copmanthorpe in 1890 he says his father is William Johnson, labourer. I have also located him with his wife and children on the 1901 census at Castleford. Failing this if some one has an Index for said area and / or LD.S film number to call in I am willing to search myself. Any listers who need help with Australian records, I am happy to do what I can. Thank you Chris Anderson, Western Australia.

Hello all, For anyone with an interest in Staintondale and Ravenscar area - this notice appeared in my local paper: 'The first meeting of Staintondale and Ravenscar Local History Group's new session will be held in Staintondale village Hall on Tuesday, September 17, at 7.30pm. This will take the form of a planning meeting to put in place detailed arrangements for the exhibition to be held on October 20, based on 'People and Places' in the area. This will include many local properties and families, including the church and the schools. All welcome.' - I am hoping to get to this meeting and I wonder if there is anyone else out there with ancestors in this area. I am particularly interested in the Alum works and associated industry in the area. My gg.grandfather, Thomas PATTERSON(or PATTISON) was born at Peak (Ravenscar) and employed at the alum works (1851 census) which was, by this time, in decline.
