Hi Karen, Can I refer you to the following link. It is to a book I transcribed for the Genuki website. Hi Graham, A Jonson Metcalfe was buried at Brandesburton in 1752 he is shown as being a Yeoman. This is likely to mean that he had ownership of a piece of land so there may be a will or administration for him that would give family connections. Also a transfer of land could be registered in the Deeds Registry at Beverley. The Brandesburton Manor Court Rolls of 1755 show that Isaac Metcalfe was sworn as a Juryman and also he had the position of Byelawman. There are a lot of surviving Manorial documents for Brandesburton and they are held by the Corporation of London Record Office. Hi Everyone, This list is very quiet at the moment, so here is my latest line of research. I think I might have found a link from my METCALF family of Keyingham/Sunk Island/South Cave to the METCALFS of Skirlaugh / Brandesburton / Swine. Does anyone know anything about a Hyanson or Hianson or Janson METCALF of Brandesburton? He was born around 1690 and married one Elizabeth HARDY. A later descendant called Janson ended his days in the Skirlaugh Workhouse. Any connections to anybody? Best wishes to all, Graham, York. _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

Hello! Delays at the Beverley Registrar may be due to some recent reorganisations. I know that some smaller offices (I think Pocklington was one) have mended iopening hours and the registers have been trasferred and centralised at Beverley. I think this has generated a degree of strain! Patience! They have always been very fast and efficient in the past. Hi Everyone, Looking for the above connection by marriage. My great uncle Ernest (MORTON) married Doris SPARKES in 1925 and wondering if anyone is researching the SPARKES name. They married in Hull but not sure where the family were from and unfortunately they just miss the 1901 census. Any bells ringing anywhere? ttfn Trish Ex Hull lass on Central Coast of NSW,Oz

Dear Listers I have been searching a film from the LDS of the Parish registers for St Mary's Church, Sculcoates as my Robert ROEBUCK married Frances JOHNSON there in 1814. There were no ROEBUCKs mentionned on the film, earlier than this marriage so my brick wall is, where was he baptised and who were his parents. Robert would have been born c1792, possibly in the Hull area. I was also looking for the baptism of Stephen JOHNSON c1784, parents Robert and Mary JOHNSON as Stephen gave Hull as his birthplace on the 1851 census and he is the sister of Frances JOHNSON who married there. If anyone can offer suggestions on where to look next or has these people on their tree, I would love to hear from them. Regards Sue Sharman Picton, NZ
I wonder if listers would keep an eye out for a marriage of John PARR and Lissy ? between 1854 and 1858? I know that John's first wife Sarah died in November 1855 at West Rasen, and that by 1871 he was living at Welton with Melton and had a new wife Lissy, who was from Ingham in Lincs. My great grandmother Ann Eliza PARR was born on May 12th 1857 and said she was born at South Kelsey, but I cannot find her birth at any of the registry offices in North Lincolnshire, nor a christening at any of the local churches. I wonder if her mother was at a relative's house in South Kelsey when Ann was born, as John PARR was from nearby Bigby. I also wonder if they had already moved north of the Humber? If I can find Lissy's second name, I can trace her family further back - I actually copied all the christenings in Ingham for 1831 the year she was born and there were only Elizabeth CROWDEN (Clowder?) and Elizabeth TARREN plus Ann Elizabeth HARRISON so in theory she should be one of these. Good Morning everybody, As a new boy, I have subscribed to 6 County Lists, mainly as an observer hoping to pick up any sign of clues. I first started my family tree research way back in the 80's, got so far and then hit brick walls. Also my then wife was rather hacked off with my hobby and my Mum said that the only reason that I visited her was to do research in the local Beverly RO. I now revisit the subject in the Computer age, in a few short weeks I have come on by leaps and bounds. The 1901 Cencus, the Mormon 1881 Cencus and Free BMD have been of great help. If there is anyone out there who is researching any of the below, I would be grateful for any assistance. Also it seems that my Computer programme "Expert Personal Roots" is a bit dated and limiting, any suggestions for a "all singing, all dancing" prog would be great CROSS, GOOD, HORSEFIELD in Beverley and surrounds East Yorks DAVIS and VENABLES in Rock Worcs (17/1800's) DAVIS, STRINGER, CLIFFORD in Hartpury and surrounds Glocs DAVIS, EVANS, HOOPER in Bristol, Portishead, Bath, Torquay EVANS and HOOPER in Cardiff (Glam), Crumlin (Mon) Best Regards Ken Cross Swindon Wilts
Message text written by INTERNET:ENG-EAST-YORKS-L@rootsweb.com >My question is, where would one search next? I do not have a birth date, but his first child was born in 1800.< I have had success requesting microfilms of parish records from my local Family History Center and reading each entry from the time period when I expect to find an event. The death records on the LDS data base are pretty incomplete. You sometimes even find great little entries on cause of death in the parish records. For instance, my 5th great grandfather died in a "hurricane" in Yorkshire while loading hay into a wagon. Apparently he was blown off the load. I would never have known that had I not stumbled on his death entry when looking through the parish microfilm for someone else. He was not listed on the LDS database. Having seen a few requests for photos recently, I thought I'd re-post my offer.... If you let me know a location in the East Riding or Hull I shall endeavour to photograph it for you. There's no charge and all the images are digital. Adrian.
