    1. [ERY] Re: PORT OF HULL IMMIGRATION.
    2. Jean Garforth
    3. Hi to all, Just a reminder to people researching in Hull to check www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk at regular intervals. You may be lucky and find some of your relatives. I believe that they are concentrating on Birth Registrations at the moment and babies born in Hull, even if the familes were only here for a short time, would probably have been registered. Kind regards Jean Garforth

    3. Hi Peter, I don't know if you have this already but it is from the EYFHS Sculcoates Monumental Inscriptions. Sacred to the memory of MARY ELIZABETH daughter of GEORGE and MARTHA MALING who died Feb 8 1835 aged 8 months. Also WILLIAM the beloved son of the above who died Dec 8 1857, aged 19 years [ ] to the above named MARTHA MALIN who died Dec 1 1876 aged 69 years. Also, [ ] MALIN WHOLEY who died July 17 1870, aged 10 years, * grand children to the above. Also, GEORGE MALING, husband of the above MARTHA, who died Feb 15 187[ ] PR 1857 Dec 13 William MALIN, Reform Street 19 PR 1876 Dec 3 Martha MALIN, Reform Street 69 PR 1870 Jul 19 Fred Malin WHOLEY Dock Street Infant PR 1878 Feb 17 George MALING, Dock Street 70 *(sic) The Society did a stirling job of recording many of the Inscriptions. The Hull Corporation had decided to "tidy up" the Southcoates Lane area but unfortunately many stones were lost or broken up. (I will refrain from comment!!) As you will see, some of the inscriptions were worn but the Society had abviously checked the Public Records to enable the information on the stones to be verified. Hope you find this of interest. Hello, To Kerry and anyone else who needs help on genealogical records in England (or indeed the rest of the UK, or Ireland or the crown dependencies of the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands) a good place to start is the GENUKI site (it stands for GENealogy in the UK and Ireland) at: www.genuki.org.uk This provides a wealth of information. 3. Hi, Further to my request for a lookup on the 1861 census, for Mary THISTLETON, which I now have thanks to Jean, I have found that Mary was a Trinity House Pensioner. Has anybody come across any records for Trinity House? Would they list details about pensioners? Thanks Judith Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, Australia

    2. Robert and Judith Armstrong
    3. Hi, I wonder if some kind person could see if Mary THISTLETON born Hull about 1803 is on there. I am interested if her husband Henry is with her or whether she is described as a wife or widow. Her husband Henry was a mariner. He was away from home in 1851. In 1871 Mary is described as a widow. I have been unable to find any record of his death, probably he died at sea so am trying to narrow it down abit. Thanks Judith Armstrong Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, Australia

    1. [ERY] JEFFERSONs of Elloughton
    2. Norma Clare
    3. Hello, I'm new to this list and I'm working on the family history of the JEFFERSON family who were in Elloughton in the 1800s. In particular, I'm studying George Drinkall JEFFERSON, who was born in Elloughton and later lived in Mappleton. He was in Bessenby on the 1881 census. George's parents, Robert and Sarah seem to have been in Elloughton all their lives and I believe Robert's father, another Robert, also came from the area. If anyone has any information about this family, I would be very grateful. Many thanks Norma Clare

    1. [ERY] Robinson in 1841 census
    2. Doug and Sondra Jernigan
    3. My ancestor, Nixon Robinson, was b. July 1825 to Robert Robinson and Mary in Ulrome (or Skipsea) and emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1839. Known brothers and sisters include Thomas, Robert, Harriet and George. The 1841 census for Ulrome does not show a Robert Robinson but a Mary Robinson listed with children George age 12 and Mary age 9 is probably his mother so presumably his father had died. Mary is in the home of George Danby age 60. George is listed as "independent" and Mary as "F.S." What does "F.S." mean? Perhaps George Danby was a relative. If anyone has any information about either the Robinson or Danby family, I would appreciate any help. The East Yorkshire FHS has monumental inscriptions for Ulrome and Skipsea. Before ordering it (from the USA) could SKS let me know whether there are any Robinsons listed for Ulrome? Thanks in advance. Sondra Jernigan

    2. Diane Ellerton
    3. Could anyone with access to the relevant census - 1891, Hessle - please do a look-up for me? This is a very confusing family as they had almost all boys and a few of them died, yet the names were recycled, so it's hard to determine who's who! The 1881 census info I have is: Dwelling - Hourne Census place - Hessle in Sculcoates Film 1342147 PRO ref. RG11 Piece/Folio 4750/27 p 16 HOH Frederick WOODFORD male 37 Woodhouse Eaves, Leicester, Certif. Teacher Elem. WOODFORD male 1 Hessle John Abell died in 1881 so would not be present on the 1891, but I believe there may be other, younger children born after 1881. Any help much appreciated. Diane
