    3. Hello Darlene, Have a look at the EYFHS (East Yorkshire Family History Society) web site where youll find most of what they have to offer and it is very reasonably priced. Dont try and get info without joining as some people are doing. Be prepared to pay towards some resources in order to further your research. I like to get photo-copies or printouts of source documents as proof and to add to my files. Another source for census is S&N British Data Archives Ltd. Hope this helps Peter ----- Original Message ----- From: <Goose633@aol.com> To: <ENG-EAST-YORKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 07, 2003 11:58 PM Subject: [ERY] Census Record Question > I live in Florida in the USA. 3. Darlene, You can borrow census films for Great Britain, etc. through your local LDS Family History Library - check the library catalogue on the Family Search internet site to see what's available for the places you are interested in. You need to go to the FHL to actually order them. For a nominal charge, you can borrow the microfilms to use on the film readers in the FHL. If your library has a reader with a printer attached, you can do photocopies of the pages that have the records you are interested in . Otherwise, copies can be ordered through Salt Lake City. 1. RE: [ERY] Census Record Question
    2. Kevin Bean
    3. Darlene, as you already know the 1881 Census for England & Wales (but not Scotland) is at www.FamilySearch.org. The index for the 1901 UK Census can be viewed, free of charge, at: www.census.pro.gov.uk, the images of the Census returns, and transcriptions, can also be downloaded, for a small charge, from this site. Full instructions are provided for how to access the Index, pay for images etc. There have been plans for the PRO to add other Censuses to their Online service, but this has been delayed, and the currents plans are unclear. www.Ancestry.co.uk has started to offer the 1891 census, and has indicated that they will be adding other Censuses (1841-1881), although I am not aware of the status of Indexes. A separate useful project for the UK Birth/Marriage/Death Indexes can be accessed at: http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl, although it should be noted that this project is ongoing and currently incomplete (e.g. marriages for most years are about 70-90% complete, births & deaths are generally lower).
