Hi to all, The area mentioned by the other Jean is correct but that is more or less Council Ward. The sub district of MYTON in the Registration Disctrict of Hull covered this and an area much greater to the West of HULL. I have a few BMDs with Myton given as the sub-district of MYTON and they cover such places as SPENCER St., (1857) GARDEN St., (1860) PERRY St., (Anlaby Road, 1909) VICTORIA St. (off Derringham Street, Spring Bank. (1891) but I am guessing that it covered the area to the east of NEWINGTON up to the area mentioned by Jean. I hope the above addresses help a little. With help from "Hazel" I think I have located Jane DAVISON's birth in 1840. Before spending £7 on a certificate I'd like some corroborative evidence from the Census returns which could give an indication of her d.o.b. I'll try Family Search for 1881 when they are less busy and the PRO for 1901 similarly but 1861, 1871 & 1891 are more difficult. The family in 1862 include William TURNBULL, wife Jane TURNBULL and daughter Joanna Turnbull living in English Street, Myton, Hull. Are there any listers with access to the 1861, 1871 & 1891 census returns (if they exist)? Ever hopeful, GrahamVR

I am trying to find details of the burials of my ancestors:- William STOUT: Ellen STOUT and Alec LEWIS. I have about nine booklets of 'monumental inscriptions' for the Hull and East Riding but nothing for Eastern Cemetery. Many thanks Freda Good Malvern
Hello listers, I'm looking for any info on Robert Saunders and Mercy Thompson. They were married 01 Oct. 1732 and had John Saunders; Robert Saunders b. 21 march 1736; and Elizabeth Saunders. I have ordered films from the LDS center and am willing to give it a try on any look ups any one would like. I have ordered film from the PR's of Independent Zion Gate Hall as well as the BT's from 1598-1836. Nora
Hello to all, I would be interested to hear from anyone who is researching or has connections to the name REDPATH in HULL Kind regards. Jean Garforth
I really must apologise to you all for offering to look up names in the 1834 Electoral Rolls for East Yorkshire. Colin Hinson has pointed out that as this is currently in print and for sale, and also in copyright, I would have been unsubscribed by some groups. As I haven't long since subscribed, I am very sorry for unintentionally breaking the rules. In fact, the response has been overwhelming, so perhaps I could make amends by recommending "The Electoral Rolls of the East Riding of Yorkshire 1834" to you all? It costs £7.20 (including postage)and is available from Yorkshire Wolds Publications, 10 Stainers, Bishops Stortford, Herts, CM23 4GL. Cheques payable to "Yorkshire Wolds Publications" website: www.blanshard.demon.co.uk/ywp/index.htm I'll just go back to reading the postings instead of trying to actively contribute to the list! Sorry folks! Dorothy Altrincham Cheshire
Looking up the census today I found a reference in relation to the Union Workhouse - where it shows Relation to Head of Family sometimes it says "Inmate" and other times "Wid Inmate". Can somebody help me with an explanation of "Wid". Thanks Judy & Robert jude@bigpond.net.au
Hi I've just discovered (hopefully) a GGG aunt marrying in Hull in 1866 and wonder if someone could check and see if she was in Hull in 1861. She is Sarah Elizabeth HENDERSON born 1842 in Brigg, Lincolnshire. We have been unable to find her in Lincolnshire so fingers crossed!! Judith Armstrong Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, Australia

Very many thanks, Jean - I really do appreciate your kindness in taking the time and trouble to help me. My O'CONNELLs/CONNELLs next children(twins Mary Jane and Sarah Ann) were born in Pickering, in 1866, so maybe they had moved there before the 1861 census. They seem to have been a very peripatetic lot! I don't suppose you have access to the 1861 census for Pickering as well, do you? ... Dorothy, Please, you really must NOT do this. You would be instantly un-subscribed from some county lists for offering look-ups from books which are: a. Currently in print and for sale. b. In copyright. By offering look-ups from this book you are reducing the sales of the book into which Colin Blanchard Withers has put a lot of time and effort, and I'm sure that anyone who really needs a look-up could afford the 5.95 pounds that Colin is asking for the book.
