    2. Mornin' Shiela, You are very kind - you have given me loads of info. I've had the devil's own job because our printer has broken down - so I had to copy it all and then I cannot read my own scribble/private shorthand! However, everything now extracted. How was the trip to Amsterdam? Did you go on a shopping spree or just eat and drink too much? Peter

    3. Hello List... Replying to Peter, please see email after this one below... I cannot help feeling that I am in 'Wonderland or is it Neverland'? as regards the 1851 census on Ancestry... I concur that it is very difficult to interpret the information... There is consistent wrong spelling of names and place names. I suppose a lot of our English names must seem very strange to the people who are transcribing the censuses...I have to give them one thing, and that is that they are very creative! even more bizarre is that my poor old great grandfather is listed as female even on the IGI, I have tried to correct this several times to no avail... his wife must have been very surprized as they had several children together. (9 of them). My 3Xs great grandmother was born in 'Berwick on Tweed', but it certainly is not listed that way on the census... By the way where is 'Hinson' in Yorkshire located please, or is this also a mistake... Hinson is not on 'Where is it in Yorkshire'! Good Luck in your searches everyone... Kindest regards, Josephine, Ontario, Canada. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2005 10:07 PM Subject: Re: [ERY] 1851 CENSUS ON ANCESTRY > 'Lo Barbara, > > My first Ancestrey.com 1851 census lookup gave me a 33 year old farmer with > his 26 year old mother staying with him - so if everyone is aware that it > might be a bit slap-dash, (one of my cousins in USA told me yesterday that she > found several errors). 2. Hi Mike, You would probably find the marriage you are looking for in the East Yorkshire Marriage Index which is one of the indexes available to members of the East Yorkshire Family History Society. I think there are marriages in it from 1753 to 1813 for most places in EY. 3. Hi Peter, I was aware that they were doing this work but not that is had been published already. The burial registers make very interesting, and often sad, reading. Combine with MI's it gives great info on one's relatives. Hope your rellies brought lots of goodies for you to check out. Having recently been in England and going through an elderly aunt's box of photos I brought heaps back with me so know exactly what you are feeling at the moment. Enjoy the moment..... Thanks for your time and input. ttfn Trish At 05:41 PM 10/26/2005, you wrote: >Greetings from a sunny, (but for how long?), Cornwall. > >Hello Trish, > >The EYFHS (East Yorkshire Family History Society) have transcribed 1000 of >the MIs in the Hedon Road Cemetery and have the booklet for sale at a very >reasonable price.
