I have a birth certificate (for William BANHAM, b.1847) where the place of birth and the residence of father is slightly indecipherable but seems to be: TRAVERSE MEAT MARKET, Bury St.Edmunds. Can anyone tell me what this might be? Why would someone be born in a meat market? Thanks for your help, Terence Powling tjp@globalnet.co.uk Researching POWLING, MOYSE, BANHAM
