Tina, I cannot find an actual place called Hartismere now, but for certificates for ancestors born in the Hoxne registration district in the ninetheenth century I had to write to the Superintendent Registrar of the Gipping and Hartismere Registration District, in Stowmarket, Suffolk. This might not be of much help but at least you know the name wasn't plucked out of someone's imagination.
