    1. [EEA] CAN ANYONE SAVE ME £150!!!!!!
    2. Hello Listers, I was wondering if SKS out there could save me £150, that's how much the local council wants to charge me to do a search for one surname, apparently it's £30 per surname per cemetery, and there are 5 in Peterborough!! apparently this would give details of everyone with that surname for that chosen cemetary,my boyfriend said that he would pay if it was going to cost anything, I think he might change his mind now*lol*. The searches are free if I can supply the full name of the deceased and the year of death, most of my family came from Peterborough, but I don't when they died. I don't drive so I have problems getting anywhere, and I don't think that there are any records in Peterborough that would help me out, so I was wondering if there is anyone who could look for COLBON deaths in PETERBOROUGH (UK) from about 1850, I currently have 3 HESTER~23.2.1886~ My great-great grandfather's baby sister; BERTHA#13.6.1909~My great X 4 grandmother MABEL~12.3.1914~would have been my great aunt if she had lived If you have any at all, or any information that would help me, my boyfriend would be most grateful *LOL* Best wishes Karen Researching,COLBON,PARKINSON,BRANSON,EUSTACE and SCOTT

    3. Hi Lila The names were interchangeable, although it was usually called the German Ocean until the First World War. Then, there was a good reason for changing it ;-) Simon www.suffolkchurches.co.uk - an alternative guide to the churches of Suffolk. ----- Original Message ----- From: Lila C. 1. [EEA] e-mial attachments & virus's
    2. paul.york
    3. To add further to the discussion around virus's there is anti virus software that will check attachments. I use AVG anti virus software from Grisoft, this is free to individuals but not to companies ect you can download it from www.grisoft.com. When correctly set up it will check all incoming and all outgoing e-mails certifying them virus free. This software currently only works with outlook and outlook express but most people seem to use one of these. If you give them your e-mail address you can sign up to their free update service where they e-mail you because of a fresh alert. You then download the update, this is easy to do as it installs and updates itself automatically. I hope this helps Paul --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.250 / Virus Database: 123 - Release Date: 4/18/01

    1. [EEA] LIST ADMINISTRATORS NOTE -VIRUS INFO
    2. Melanie
    3. Thankyou Chris for highlighting the presence of a virus. It appears that many of the lists have been subject to virus problems, (i myself - now virus free). The viruses i am aware of are: Me_nude A 13.3kb W32badtrans virus W32/Magistr W95/Hybris The virus picks an address from the senders address book, without the sender being aware and then makes an attachment, which is the way the virus spreads when the atachment is opened. Rootsweb cannot forward an email that has an attachment. so please DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS, THEY CONTAIN THE VIRUS.They usually have "Take a look to the attachment." at the bottom of the email DO NOT OPEN. If you are sent any attachment, reply to the sender asking if they have attached a file, if not then both parties will know it is a virus. If you are suspicious DELETE IT. If you receive a suspected virus delete it , DON'T OPEN IT, ensuring you delete the recycle bin. If you did open it then you need to clean your PC of the virus otherwise you can spread the virus further. If you need help , you can find information on these websites: http://www.symantec.com or http://www.mcafee.com I will not be deleting any members from the list who have been sent the virus as this list isnt here to point the finger at single members who have innocently contracted the virus. Even so, if a member continually does nothing to stop the spreading potential after it has been highlighted to them on numerous ocassions then i will have to remove them for the good of the list. They can subscribe when their machine is clean. Feel free to contact me with any info or problems you have in respect of the virus, to: ENG-EAST-ANGLIA-admin@rootsweb.com. Lets work together to get rid of this cruel pass time for some malicious people and enjoy what the list is intended for. 3. You needn't do anything more if you're sure you haven't opened them. It's only on opening that the works spring out of the jack-in-the-box! It is the Badtrans virus and you can find out all about it and what to do about it by going to McAfee's virus information website. I've now set Outlook Express not to download messages with attachments at all.
