Hi, I have created a new web site which I hope will be of help to people. Please, please send me feedback, more information etc! The site is: http://www.stmartinscastletonlancs.fsnet.co.uk/somit.htm It is not commercial. It is in its infancy at the moment, although it does have some 4,600 entries and there is more to go on. I have added some further explanation to the search page in case people have tried and thought the web site did not work. If you can provide more information to go on to the web site would be a big, big help. If you visited your local library or records office in the last few month looking for monument transcriptions , let me know where and which place. Oh,and let me know if you were successful! Please take a look, then bookmark it, as no doubt with your help it will change and improve. I need your help to check that all is OK on the following pages just added to my website. This listing was originally done for the "The Pubs, Inns and Taverns Index for England, 1801-1900" website from my copy of "Pigot's 1839 Directory of Cambridgeshire". But as I still have my original transcription, I decided to use it to help me with the writing of [simple] HTML Tables; and hence to be used on my webpages - so here it is! http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cawthorn/1839Pigots/1839index.html The spellings of names and places are as in the Directory; nothing has been updated! "Pigot's 1839 Directory of Cambridgeshire" is now available on searchable CD from http://www.archivecdbooks.com - old books for genealogists reproduced on CD. If you do find typo errors or broken links, please let me know; although I have spent this last weekend checking and double checking, a few may still have got through. No. It was St Peter then - St Denys was assimilated in the 1970s, when neighbouring Wangford was closed. Simon www.suffolkchurches.co.uk - an alternative guide to the churches of Suffolk. The name of the CofE parish church in Brandon is now St Peter and St Denys. It is in the Parish of BRANDON & SANTON DOWNHAM WITH ELVEDEN The congregation is fairly small, and there is no vicar at present, but the non-stipendary minister with pastoral responsibility for the parish is the Revd Paul Tams, 28 Raven Close, Mildenhall, Bury St Edmunds. IP28 7LF. Tel: 01638 715475 Email: paultams@lineone.net. More usefully, probably, the churchwardens (those with direct care of the church) are Mrs Susan Nutt, 14 Hillside, Brandon, IP27 0NL. Tel: 01842 810594Mob: 07712 889332. Email: SJNutt@hotmail.com and Mrs Anne Buttrey, 8 Mount Road, Brandon, IP27 0DT. Tel: 01842 810172 Email: anne@mailacc.fsnet.co.uk. Hello Having joined your ranks recently I would like to post my interests as the ABBOTT and CLEMMENTS families. Eliza CLEMMENTS married William ABBOTT who was from Dedham, in Ardleigh on 28 November 1829. I cannot find anyone of either family in either parish before that date although they both say on the marriage certificate that they were born in Ardleigh and Dedham respectively. Can SKS help me. Also I am trying to get details of relatives, one was in the London County Council fire brigade and the other was a District Nurse in Tottenham both in the early 1900's.Does anyone know where I should search to get at these organisations records. Mike from Western Australia

Hi, I am new to this list. I am looking for a family called HODD. In the 1881 census, they were living in Liverpool, Lancs but later moved to King's Lynn. The mother was Jane S. Hodd (I think) but the youngest daughter was definitely called Gilda. (Gillie or Gilly for short) . She doesn't seem to have been born in 1881 (unless the Liverpool family are the wrong ones, sob) . Does anyone know of this family please?? Vivienne Garforth Perth Western Australia W.A.G.S. member no. 8484 To see surname interests go to http://www.perthdps.com/research/gar02.html

I have today uploaded the entries for surnames beginning with Y and Z. All 10,096 entries are now posted and should be accessible from: http://pws.prserv.net/Kings.Lynn where you should select the '1873 owners of land' button. It should be straightforward after that - if not it is because the providers of the web space which I am using are upgrading their server and some of my links may need revising. Good luck with your searches. Rosemary Rodliffe NFHS 5151

Fellow researchers, I have just tried to book a day's research at the end of June at the Fenland Museum in Wisbech - only to be told that no research can be done that week as the person who finds the registers & films & supervises researchers will be on holiday! (I wanted 28 June) So be warned! So, does anyone have access to the LDS films of the Upwell Registers - marriages at the moment from 1800 onwards - as I don't have the luxury of a FHC here in Mid-Wales! Hi listers, I would like to post my interest in JAMES/ETCHES/JOHNSON/MELLOR. Arthur JAMES, b abt 1881, married Fanny Mellor ETCHES in Colchester in 1903. They had children; Arthur, b abt 1903 Dedham Essex Fred, b 1908 Colchester Mary, b 1910 Colchester Charlie, b 1912 Colchester Ivy, b ???? Ida, b ???? Arthur JAMES father was William JAMES. Family history thinks Arthur's mother was a JOHNSON. I have no idea where William and Arthur are from. No mention of birth place on the marriage cert for Arthur and Fanny, or either mothers name's. Fanny ETCHES father was Samuel ETCHES, who I think was born in Bathley Notts in 1848, son of William ETCHES and Frances MELLOR If anyone is researching JAMES/ETCHES/JOHNSON/MELLOR, or has any info, I would like to correspond.
