I am researching Samuel H CHAPMAN(1813/4) born Colchester, Essex in 1851 census in Magdalene Street, Colchester. Samuel is my GGGF and was a broker - family legend is he was "big in sugar", and Benjamin ROLFE(1807)born Sudbury, Suffolk who was a silk weaver working for Warner & Sons in Braintree in 1851 census. Some map sites I have in my file are as follows Greenwood's 1827 map of London at www.bathspa.ac.uk/greenwood/map_c9h.html and neighbouring panels or there is www.streetmap.co.uk or www.alangodfreymaps.co.uk or try the search engines such as www.askjeeves.co and ask 'jeeves' for old maps of wherever you are looking for or try www.cydislist.com Once again look for maps.
