    1. [EEA] surname CORKE/CORK of NORWICH
    2. dianne
    3. Greetings: I am looking for references for John CORKE/CORK of Lutterworth, Leicester, and Rhoda MAWBY of Lancashire, I think. John might have moved from Norwich, where much of our family branch originated. also, there has been an often-told story about a Corke who married into the mustard COLMAN family. I am told that the wife's name was Rebecca. I have had more luck with that branch, and have found that they lived outside of Norwich. Is there any clarification on the CORKE/COLMAN family, and is it too late to get cut in on the will? ;-) In my effort to track these people down, I embarked on an ALL-ENGLAND SPREADSHEET, of Corke/cork/+variants from 1500 to 1900. A small project has grown and grown. Call me crazy. If you are working on the CORKE/CORK + variant surname and would like to contact me, I would be happy to send you what I have that might help out. All that I ask is that yoou provide me with 3 pieces of information with which I can search the spreadsheet--any three of: surname, common name, DOB, place of birth, county, church, date of christening, mum's name, dad's name, spouses name, and marriage date. I also have a "neat stuff" column. In some cases, there is a death date. Toodles! Dianne corke

    3. Here is the next instalment of titles from my bookshelf of second hand books on Norfolk local history, this time books of photographs: 'Norfolk at Work' by Neil Storey published by Sutton in 1997 (ISBN 0 7509 1455 6). About 300 photographs from around 1900 to 1950 covering most of the county: The Farming Year; Crafts & Trades; On the Roads; Fens, Waterways & Broads; The Railway; A Living from the Sea; Industry; Clerical & Educational; Construction & Public Works; Market Day & Shopping; Emergency Services; Workers at War; Workers' Playtime. 'A West Norfolk Camera' by Gordon Anckorn published by Ashgrove Press, Sevenoaks in 1981 (ISBN 0 906798 08 6). Covers King's Lynn, Dersingham & Sandringham, Snettisham, Sedgeford, Hunstanton, Wells and Wisbech from 1850 to 1950 with extra chapters on People, Farming, Railways and the paddle tug 'Pendennis'. My favourite because each photograph is accompanied by a little background to the event. 'Victorian and Edwardian Norfolk from Old Photographs', introduction and commentaries by Philip Hepworth published by Batsford in 1972 (ISBN 0 7134 0124 9). A really good introduction to photography and photographers in Norfolk followed by 150 pages of photographs covering City; Towns; Transport; The Coast; Shops and Markets; Country Houses; Work, Leisure and Repose; Country Pursuits; Broads and Rivers; Occasions; and Children. 'King's Lynn as it Was' by Michael Winton published by Hendon in 1972 (ISBN 0 902907 18 2). Nearly 50 photographs from Victorian times to First World War. 1. Re: [EEA] Anyone looking for SAYER
    2. Harry Sayer
    3. Hi Doreen , Although I cannot connect to this family .....all my work has been in Yorkshire so far .....it could be of value in due course .Thank you for posting it . Some of "my" Yorkshire SAYERs moved to London/Richmond,Surrey in 1700s and from the limited amount of information collected so far there appears to be a family connection to SAYERs in Norfolk/Suffolk around that time ,which suggests that some Yorkshire SAYERs may have moved into East Anglia .The SAYER line inYorkshire goes back to 1350 which would seem to preclude any South to North movement . Several members of the South Country SAYERs served in the Dragoon Guards which is an added point of interest . Is SAYER one of the names which you are researching ? If so I would very much like to hear more about your interests . Best Wishes , Harry Sayer , Ambleside .
