Etherley was just outside Bishop's Auckland. Etherley Lane still exists. It is the main road ruuning from due west into the town, and goes through Etherley Dene. There was a coal mine in Etherley; my grandfather Mark ABBOTT was born there 23 Jan 1874. Adrian
