My mother was born 12 July 1916 at South Bank Gas Works (her father was the manager), Middlesbrough, North Yorks. My grandfather, Samuel Shadbolt, was a member of Eston Urban Council and the North Riding County Council, according to his obituary report in the North Eastern Daily Gazette in 1928.
