I`m attempting to find out further details of FRANCIS SMITH born in CHESTERFIELD (Derbyshire) around 1843 who in the 1881 Census appears as being a Railway Porter , married to HANNAH (nee BROWN) in YORK (St Mary Bishophill Snr)with a son GEORGE HENRY who was born in STOCKTON-ON-TEES , DURHAM in 1874. He was living in YORK with his widowed father-in-law HENRY BROWN (age 64 born c.1817) who was also a Railway Porter. Francis does not appear in the Derbyshire 1851 Census so where was he between 1843 and 1881? As his son was born in DERBY STREET ,STOCKTON-ON-TEES ,DURHAM in 1874 is there any other record of the family in the Durham area? (census etc?) Can anyone help please? Thanks in anticipation. Peter
