I have recently found that the wife of one of my PLUMPTON'S was Mary Jane Jackson born in Carlton, Durham according to the 1881 (age 28) and 1901 (age 48) census. This would place her birth as @1852/3 and after the 1851 census. Question??? Would Carlton be included in the Stockton on Tees census for 1861? I don't have an address or a father's name. I believe the village had very few occupants and was primarily an iron works. Does anyone have access to this census? If so I would appreciate a look up Thanks for any advice or help. Nancy Vogt. Does anyone have any Ryton parish records, particularly christening records? Particularly interested in Erringtons and Johns(t)ons. Thanks Tim

Dear All, 55,185 births from Hull, East Sculcoates have just been added to the Yorkshire BMD web site, covering 1838 to 1937. Happy Searching at http://www.YorkshireBMD.org.uk Visitors to http://www.UKBMD.org.uk may have noticed the addition of a link to the Kent BMD site and an announcement for the forthcoming Staffordshire BMD. Having seen the recent announcement regarding the http://www.1837online.com/ web site, it makes me ask why would anyone pay to use the information on this site, which is just a scan of the tertiary information held by the GRO, when you can look for free at the Yorkshire BMDs which are based on the original source ? When the FreeBMD site is complete, the 1837online site will be redundant. When Yorkshire BMD is complete, FreeBMD will have less usefullness too. Just curious... Roy Stockdill is always saying that we should go back to the source. -- regards, Ian Hartas ---------------------------------- Why is it that the word "gullible" isn't in the dictionary? ----------------------------------

Hi Ruth I am pretty sure we will be able to connect up with the Whitby connection as some Barker descendants lived in Glaisdale. Johanna Cotter on 16/11/02 15:06, Joseph A. & Ruth O.
